Songs that fill my heart #2

Another one to thank me big cousing Dek for. The Clash really do fill a big part of my heart. This song was the first that particularly struck a chord with me for one reason or another. I'm really drawn towards the Dubby Echo and the backing vocals just rip me up ("ooh ooh oooh") cracking lyrics and a song that I just don't seem to tire of.
Damn perfection if you ask me.

songs that fill my heart #1

alternative ulster - stiff little fingers

thanks to my cousin derek who lent me a stack of punk records in the early nineties.
Somewhere in that foot high pile of black gold Stiff Little Fingers resided and man alive did they quickly channel a route straight into the core of my heart.

Getting ready for the Blaydon Race

Heres My schedule to get me ready for the Blaydon Race. My target time for the race is 55 mins.

Race is 9.49 K (5.9 mile) just short of the 10k I've ran 2 times so far. (my Personal best so far for 10k is 57 mins)

Oh me lads you should have seen us gannin...

Chuffed that me mate Troffer has sorted me out a place in this years Blaydon race.
Its just over a month since the last 10k and I've rested my knee which was giving me jip.
Iliotibial band syndrome is what I was diagnosed with a very common injury linked to over training - I think it started as soon as I started incorporating some hills into my evening runs.
My main source of exercise this month has been cycling - I'm clocking up 20 miles a day commuting to work and back.
Got out surfing last weekend which was a blessing too as there's been little surf in recent weeks - its near enough flat again already - lets hope we get another swell soon.
These days I'm really happy when I get active and don't seem to enjoy sitting about so much unless its chilling out following some sort of activity. Spending time with the bairns is a joy when I feel fit and active and that's the main reason for looking after my health.
Resisting the daily bacon butty run at work is so much easier nowadays no doubt thanks to a daily feed of porridge oats n honey first thing in the morning.
I'm still grabbing the odd takeaway & eating chocolates and necking the odd beer or two but I do try to keep them to a minimum - going tea-total has often crept into my mind but with the odd occasion such as the curry night I've organised this Wednesday night soon knock that on the head.
I'm just blogging this in case I ever slip into some sort of state that I need a reminder that active & healthy lifestyle totally is my cup of tea dude :-)
Good Health!

conversations from within the circle of trust #1

"your gonna be the first to get the custard :-)"

"So be it, you just cannot have too much custard."

"thats what mrs fannyparrot said and you know what happened to her remember the faces of the st john ambulance volunteers as they tried squeezing her out of the wheelbarrow those dirty allotment lads really should have know when enough is enough"

"Yes, you're right. If she had kept to the trifle instead of the custard, her posterior would not have swollen so much in the wheel barrow. Still, at least she now saving a fortune on the ballet lessons!"

"last I heard the Reverand was poking his nose into the business of the churchyards moles the police picked him up and charged him with 'moling' the tabloids had the story ready to print but his bacon was saved when they were tipped off about Henry Middlebum's encounter with the German Sausage Brigade"

"The rumour that I heard was that he had overdosed on pain killers and claimed that the churchyard was infested with midgets that were prospecting for oil. I've told Henry about the GSB, those boys don't mess about you know. He was all right with the Salami branch but the minute he upped the ante and tried to take on the big boys! Still it brings a hole new meaning to the term ringfenced, poor soul."

"I still blame Archbishop of Nocandobury. it was him egging on the poor old reverend in the first place. I mean if you were face to face with a molehill and had someone behind you yelling "Geddin there my son" what would you do?
Rumours still circulate these parts that the Archbishop rigged those moleholes elarly that morning with the encapsulating essence of Teachers Whisky and the odd Gentlemens Magazines too.
If you ask me the Reverand was just a scapegoat been used as a pawn in the game. Lets ponder the question of the Archbishops whereabouts now. Not one to start rumours but the last I heard he had taken up shelter in a comfortable dwelling with the chief head honcho of Nocandobury's CID division (Custard In Disguise)"

"You are right he was just a scapegoat. Mind you the local rag summed it up nicely with its' headline. Clueless Custardised Clergyman in Midget Molehill Menace
The snippet I heard was that the Arch, as he is affectionately known had naffed off to Spain and was in the Custard del Sol. Where he is now smuggling counterfeit manchester tarts, made with custard constituted from water instead of finest cream, the swine."

"Manchester Tarts with Jazz Water eh? I'm sure the Arch would never stoop that low But rumours going around the custard factory would have you believe something very different. I have heard on more than one occasion that whilst in the prime of his youth the thrill seeking Arch used to practise stooping as low as possible. This was to enable regular sneaky peaks through the 'mouseholes' in the skirting boards of a nearby 'aching muscle relief' parlour. Hence the permanent back problems old Arch has been riddled with over many a recent year. If you look closely enough you can still see the remnants of the black eye he once received from the Big Boss Lady 'Edna Shuffledoon' Apparently whilst she was 'working on a member' she spotted Archies eye blinking rapidly and promptly gave it a swift boot with her metal tipped winklepicker."

LOUDER

Some songs simply demand to be played exceedingly loud. Such as 'she sells sanctuary' by the cult. If they are not loud enough its a bit like having a hamburger without any burgers.
